Lichfield Hockey Club Awards are an opportunity for the club to celebrate its achievements and to recognise outstanding contributions to the club, organisationally, socially, competitively and voluntarily or any combination of the four. 

Awards are given by teams and by the club at our annual awards evening at the end of each season.  

Teams decide on the name and criteria for their awards but these often include Players player of the year, captain’s player of the year, top goalscorer, best defender etc  

The club presents a variety of awards across all areas of the club. Awards and criteria are shown below:

Most Improved male Significant improvement shown by an individual over the course of the season Male Club Captain

Team of the Year Outstanding performance of the year by a senior team Club President/Chair 
Most Improved Team of the Year Team whose performance has improved most significantly from last season Club President/Chair 
Masters Player of the Year Significant contribution to masters hockey both in and out of the club. Exec Committee 

Honorary Life Membership 

The highest accolades that can be achieved by an individual within the club is that of an Honorary Life Membership. This award recognises continuous outstanding service to the club across a number of years going above and beyond what is expected of any member. Life members will have given an extraordinary contribution in areas of club involvement such as player, coach, administrator, volunteer or in other positions. 

There shall be a maximum of two Honorary Life Memberships awarded by the club in any given playing season of the club. 


Chairmans Award 

Chairman’s awards are presented annually to members who have make a significant contribution to the club during that season. Contributions could be through playing, coaching, volunteering or committee representation. 


Hall of Fame 

Introduced in 2025, the Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to Lichfield Hockey Club, on the pitch, since the club was formed. 

Criteria 

  • Played for the club for more than 10 seasons 
  • Playing ability, character, sense of fair play and contributions to his or her team, the club and to the game of hockey in general. 

Additional considerations 

  • Has been an active member of the Management Committee 
  • Has been an appointed Team Coach for 5 years or more 
  • Has been a significant volunteer for 5 years or more 

Nominations for induction in the Hall of Fame can be made by any member to the Club Chair or Secretary. The Executive Committee will make a decision based on nominations. 

Hall of Fame inductions will take place twice a year, once at the Chairmans Dinner and once at Awards Night
